A letter to my sixteen year old self

After a late night conversation at the kitchen table discussing the drama of teenage years over a cup of tea with a house mate the idea of writing a letter to ourselves when we were a few years younger was born.

So what would I say to myself, what advice would I give to a girl four years younger with so much ahead of her?

Don't fret about your size, you maybe worry that you are fat but you are pretty normal for your age. Don't let it dominate your life..change your attitude towards food now to avoid what would otherwise happen in the future.
That house party you always thought you wanted and asked your mum and dad so angelically for won't turn out quite how you planned. You'll be left with a massive mess to clean up in the morning and your first awful hangover.
Make the most of your family time, you don't get to see them often and time is precious.
Do not, under any circumstances dye your hair red.. It takes SOOO long to get out, and you suit brown better anyway!
Take the drinking easy, I know you have a new found freedom but don't go so over the top. Chucking up in a future boyfriends house is never a good first impression.
Don't act like such an emo, I know you liked the music and the clothes (you still wear some of those kind of clothes, and you now even own a pair of Dr.Martens) but that is no excuse to try and make yourself a stereotype. Be yourself and be proud. On another note that many bracelets looked ridiculous and they looked cheap and tacky.
Don't allow yourself to put so much trust in people..people suck, they let you down. The drama sometimes just isn't worth it, suck it up and get on with your own life. People change and you will change and the people that matter will change. It doesn't matter, you will come out the other side I promise, but make the most of these friendships while they last because sometimes you will miss them.
Make the most of the dancing, you won't be there much longer but it was something you should take pride in because you weren't half bad! Reach out of your comfort zone and talk to other people, make the most of the time you spend with people, you never know they could be taken too young. Push yourself, don't let what other people think of you stop you from trying your hardest.

School may be the bane of your life, but it will soon be over, followed by an amazing prom! Sixth form is a lot of hard work but you will love every minute. Treasure the memories you make.
The year you have ahead of you is full of some amazing memories (including America) and also some awful ones. It's full of amazing parties where you will make and watch your friends make mistakes. You're only sixteen don't worry about the future too much.. I got it covered.
